Chris Wimmer returns to his racing his Racing Roots

Wausau, Wis. – 4/14/2008 – Chris Wimmer returns to his racing roots with his return to the ASA Series. This time it will be with the ASA Midwest Tour Series, which enters its second season of full time racing. Wimmer plans to run the 15-race series schedule with his eye on the Championship Title. Wimmer raced the former ASA Series from 2001 to 2003 and a lot of success. While he still hopes for another opportunity in the NASCAR Nationwide or Craftsman Truck Series, Wimmer looks forward to the tough competition the ASA Midwest Tour offers.  Says Wimmer, “I want very badly to get back in to NASCAR, but without funding and a sponsor it’s hard to know if that will happen.  The ASA Midwest Tour brings the top drivers in the area to the track every weekend and I know it will be both a great test and a lot of fun each weekend.”

The ASA Midwest Tour kicks off this weekend, April 19,2008, at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota where in 2003 Chris earned his first ASA Pole. Wimmer will once again take the reins of the Wimmer Racing No. 52 Chevrolet, driving in the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour Presented by Echo Power Equipment.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend at Elko Speedway,” said Wimmer. “We’ve completely rebuilt our Pathfinder Chassis and I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel again and get back into Victory Lane.”

“Also,” adds Wimmer, “I want to thank my associate sponsors Philly’s Subs and Gyro’s with two locations in Wausau, WI, Flip Side Graphics in Wausau, WI, TRW Auto Body of Mosinee, WI, Nelson Repair, LLC of Lodi, WI and Mittler Brothers Machine and Tool out of Foristell, MO., for coming on board this weekend. I really appreciate their support. We are currently seeking full time sponsors. If anyone is interested in getting on board with us to compete for the ASA Midwest Tour Championship contact me at ”

Wimmer started racing Pure Stocks in 1996 and moved his way up the the Super Late Model Division in 1998 where he won Rookie of the Year honors at State Park Speedway. From 2001 to 2003 he raced the ASA Series.

Wimmer’s total career stats include 17 wins, 56 top-5's, and 113 top-10’s.

In 2004 and 2005 Wimmer raced part time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In 2006 and 2007 he raced part time in the NASCAR Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.
