Wimmer Excited for Return to Dells Raceway Park

For the second straight year Chris Wimmer heads to Dells Raceway Park to compete with the best in the Midwest.  Wimmer is no stranger to Dells Raceway Park, the site of this weekends ASA Midwest Tour Miller Lite 100.  In 1998 1999, and 2000 Wimmer raced the track in Wisconsin Dells on a weekly basis. In 1999 he was named Most Improved Driver and finished 2nd in the point standings. Wimmer’s entrance in the ASAMT event a year ago ended a 3-year drought of racing at DRP and he’s excited to go back.  Says Wimmer, “Wisconsin Dells has always been one of my favorite racetracks.  I used to race there all the time and have a lot of success there and I always look forward to going back.”

Dells Raceway Park has been kind to Wimmer.  In his many starts there he picked up about numerous wins and many top ten finishes.  “Anytime you run somewhere on a weekly basis you can try different setups and see what works,” says Wimmer, “I found setups that worked for me back then, but that was also eight years ago.”

Wimmer got a more recent taste of DRP when he finished 20th in the Back Home 100 last June.  While he hopes to better that performance this weekend, his longtime experience at Wisconsin Dells can only help.  “There are definitely things I can take from last year that will help this year,” says Wimmer, “and anytime you know a track, and know what line to run it gives you confidence going in.  It’s always nice to be familiar with the track you’re going to run.”

Sunday’s race is also right in the back yard of one of Wimmer’s sponsor’s, Leo’s Upper Dells Bar of Lyndon Station.  “You always want to race well in front of your sponsors,” says Wimmer, “There are a few other guys Leo sponsors, and so it would be nice to see his cars run well this weekend.”  Along with Leo’s, Wimmer would like to thank FlipSide Graphics, Philly’s Gyro’s and Subs and Cloverbelt Credit Union of Wausau, as well as Nelson Repair LLC of Lodi for their continued support.

ASAMT qualifying gets underway at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, Autograph Session 3:00PM with racing set to start at four o’clock.  Ticket prices $17.00 Adults, $10 Student (10-15) and Seniors, 9 and under FREE!
