Flat Tire Slows Wimmer’s Day in Marshfield

Marshfield, WI: Chris Wimmer and the ASA Midwest Tour hit the track at Marshfield Speedway Sunday, September 7th for the Kim Parsons Memorial 100 and it looked as though Wimmer’s day would be pretty good.  The car was quick right from the get-go and he drove it to the 5th fastest time in qualifying.  “During practice the car felt good,” said Wimmer, “I had to go out first for qualifying, and no one wants to do that, so to end up fifth, I thought, was pretty good.”

With the inverted start Wimmer lined up 10th for the Kim Parsons Memorial 100.  The car moved towards the front right away, but then began to slide back through the field and Wimmer ended the day with a 15th place finish.  “The car was good right away,” said Wimmer, “And then it just got really bad.  It got really loose and I wasn’t exactly sure why. I had a hard time holding on to it. After the race when I pulled in to the pits we found that my right front tire had a hole in it and was going down, so I was just happy to hang on for 15th.”

Wimmer now sits 4th in the ASAMT point standings with just one race left to go.  While he’s out of the chase for the championship, he can still move up to 2nd with a good race at the season finale during the Oktoberfest Weekend on October 4th and 5th at Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem Wisconsin.
