Wimmer Looks to Continue ASAMT Top-Five Streak

Wausau, WI: 8/15/2008 Chris Wimmer earned top-five finishes in his last two ASA Midwest tour races, and looks to continue that streak this Sunday at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN. Its been great, says Wimmer, Weve ran well lately, especially the last two weeks and its definitely a boost to me and the guys.  Anytime you can put together a couple of good finishes it helps.

Wimmer though must continue the streak at a track where hes never raced before.  However, that hasnt been a huge problem for Wimmer this season.  In fact he averages a tenth place finish at first time tracks so far this season and even set a new track record at I-94 Raceway his first time there.  Its a challenge, but its fun, says Wimmer, Ive raced pretty well at new tracks this year and enjoy the challenge of it.

This week starts the beginning of a four-week stretch of racing for Wimmer and the ASA Midwest Tour, so its especially important to start out strong.  This is kind of the home stretch for us, says Wimmer, We race the next four straight weekends and to start this stretch out with a good run is extremely important. Wimmer is currently 6th in the ASA Midwest Tour standings and just 51 points out of third.

Practice at Raceway Park begins at 12:45 with qualifying at 4:00p.m. and racing set to start at 6:00p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate. For more information go to: www.asamidwesttour.com.
