Wimmer Set to Finish Season in Nashville

Just three weeks after wrapping up a fourth place points finish in the ASA Midwest Tour at Oktoberfest, Chris Wimmer gets set to close out his 2008 race season in Nashville.  “It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of the season,” says Wimmer, “But I’m looking forward to Nashville, it’s always been a fun place to race.”

Wimmer entered the CRA race in Nashville a year ago, but this year will compete in the ASA SouthEast Asphalt Tour.  Wimmer is just one of seven drivers with ASAMT experience competing ASASE event this weekend.  “It’s a pretty neat deal,” says Wimmer, “They tried to kind of make it a north and south battle, so a bunch of the guys I’ve been racing with all season will be here as well as all of the guys from the ASA SouthEast.”

While Wimmer failed to make the CRA race last year, he has high hopes for his trip to Music City this year.  “Last year we were pretty fast all weekend, I thought,” says Wimmer, “But that was really just our 4th race of the season and things just didn’t go our way.  This year I’ve been at it all season and put together some pretty good finishes.”

The 200-lap feature sets up a little differently than many of the ASAMT teams are used to, as drivers will make live pit stops.  Usually in ASAMT competition there is a cautioned break period that gives teams time to make adjustments and change tires.  “It’s definitely a little different,” says Wimmer, “But it’s also fun, if everything goes right.  I know I have a good group of guys who will be pitting for me, so everything should work out well.”

The ASASE event in Nashville gets underway Thursday with practice and continues Friday with more practice and qualifying.  The 200-lap feature event begins Saturday at one o’clock in the afternoon.
